France's Burgundy region is the homeland of the beloved Pinot noir vine, along
with the other Pinots and Chardonnnay. Efringen-Kirchen's micro-climatic conditions,
coupled with the limestone terrain, correspond with the conditions of Burgundy.
The average temperature of 11.4°C per year of the 'Basel Bay' is similar to
that of Burgundy. This allows us to plant vine clones from Burgundy with great
success.
Vineyards sloped towards the sun help to evenly ripen grapes.
This effect cannot be replicated in the cellar. High-quality wines originate from
high-quality grapes. This is why we treat our vines with utmost respect and great
attention. Handcrafted work is not exceptional for the Ziereisen family, it is
standard. Extensive work in the vineyard, a strict harvest regulation, and an
exact selection of the grapes during harvest create the ideal conditions for a
healthy and high-quality vintage.
We appreciate the characteristics and
the quality offered by old vines, which is why we maintain and cultivate ours
for more than 30 years.
